You then download and install it. The installer creates a new shortcut to the installer in your Start Menu. You should now be able to boot into Windows normally.

Use Shift+Delete/Shift+Backspace to remove the shortcut. If you like, you can remove all of the shortcuts that were created in the section above by deleting them one by one.

Note: Depending on the antivirus/malware protection you use you might have to click “Let me choose.”

You can either go back and download and re-run the same command to reinstall your windows or wait until your virus protection software removes the malware. If you’re using one of the major anti-virus products like Norton, Kaspersky, or McAfee, the entry will be removed from your virus database after they have finished scanning it.

If you are using AVG or Avast, it may take some time to clean it all up.

If you are using Windows 7 or 8, the guide linked in this post should allow you to back up your files and then do a clean install of Windows 10 or a clean install of Windows 8.1.

If you are on Windows XP, it should still be possible to do a clean install.

If your installation disk is not burned properly, the problems you might run into include the following:

The installation CD won’t boot.

The installation CD stops at “Startup Repair” or a similar screen and reboots into Windows.

“Failed to boot from CD” or “Error when trying to boot from CD”

You cannot install Windows from the DVD.
